The newly established Technology Incubation Centre at UET Taxila organized a workshop on Entrepreneurship on March 25. The workshop was jointly conducted by Prof. Dr. Shahid Qureshi and Prof. Imran Khan from Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi.
Prof. Dr. Shahid is an alumnus of UET Taxila, and currently working as director of Centre for Entrepreneurial Development(CED) of IBA. Prof. Imran Khan is also a faculty member in CED. Both the speakers eloquently spoke on the subject from multiple perspectives and involved the participants. Some of the topics which were covered in the workshop included entrepreneurial mindset, developing a great vision, effectuation theory of entrepreneurship, and in class exercises.
The workshop started at 9:00 AM and lasted till 3:30 PM. This was the fourth event as part of Entrepreneurship Lecture Series in UET Taxila after the Vice Chancellor announced to establishment of the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) in the University on January 29, 2014. These lectures and workshops are organized by the TIC to create an entrepreneurial culture in the University and to motivate students to adopt entrepreneurship as career.
Due to impressive presentation by the speakers, many students, faculty and staff members asked TIC to organize such sessions regularly. TIC has planned to hold many online and onsite workshop on Entrepreneurship in future.
With phenomenal increase in students' enrollment in 1970's, a plan to establish additional campuses of the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore was conceived. As a result of that, the University College of Engineering Taxila was established.
