The primary function of the directorate is to organize extra-curricular activities of the students and to foster their intellectual, literary, and artistic potentialities, which remain untapped in the classroom. It functions normally through a large number of club and societies; each devoted to some sport or cultural and artistic activity.

Another function of the directorate is to maintain liaison with a wide cross-section of students and to be responsive to their need and problems. The directorate also works to promote, amongst students, respect for the dignified and disciplined behaviors befitting a university students and prospective member of the honored community of engineers of Pakistan.
