Welcome to the Faculty of Mechanical and Areonautical Engineering Mechanical Engineering is becoming more and more versatile with the emerging trends of globalization and the fast paced technological breakthroughs. Design, manufacturing and analysis of machine elements, engines, turbines, jets, rockets, stationary and mobile structures, HVAC systems, Oil and Gas equipment and industrial/power plants etc. have been conventionally included in the scope of this discipline. However, the recent breakthroughs in the development of hardware and software tools have entirely changed the traditional engineering practices and the scope as well. Market economy trends, sustainability concerns, quality consciousness and above all swift dissemination of knowledge and information have broadened the area of action in every engineering discipline, and, mechanical engineers of the contemporary world have to equip themselves with all the necessary skills and tools to shape a new world. We at UET Taxila, in spite of all our weaknesses and limitations, are trying to keep pace with the world.

Mechanical Engineering Department of UET Taxila has always kept its unique identity and Insha Allah we shall try to maintain it in future as well. I expect my faculty and the students to perform excellently and earn respect for them, for their institution and for their nation. I advise my students to be too conscious about their self-respect, be honest to themselves at the least and prove through their actions; whatever they believe in. I also advise them to believe in and practice the absolute values, and, ensure that what is the “right and true” must be “right and true” for every one, everywhere and anytime, and, the same must apply to the “wrong” as well. I expect that my students to stop at the red signal, even if they are alone on the road or nobody else is doing so.
