Modeling via Monte-Carlo Simulation

In this project the students will investigate the various routines for generating random numbers. The use of Monte-Carlo simulation on different applications are then performed to prove the validity and advantages of these algorithms. Applications include, among others, optimization, multidimensional integration and the calculation of the constant PI.

Recognition and Filtering of Packets of different protocols of OSI Layers

This project recognize the different packets of various applications on the basis of there ports. There complete logging and the decision to drop, deny or accept packet will be taken by the user by implanting rules manually. The logging of packets shall be displayed runtime with the complete information. That is, the source address, destination address, source port and destination port.

Asim Shehzad

OPNET model design and realization for Datagram Congestion Control Protocol (DCCP)

The Datagram Congestion Control Protocol (DCCP) is a transport protocol that implements bidirectional, unicast connections of congestion-controlled, unreliable datagrams.  It should be suitable for use by applications such as streaming media, Internet telephony, and on-line gaming.

11

Asim Shehzad

Design and Simulations of Digitally Modulated Signals for Hybrid Fiber/Coaxial Cable Television Networks.

This project will focus on the implementation of numerical models to study HFC networks employing digital sub carriers. In particular, models for 64 and 256 QAM will be developed. For this purpose a simulation software platform will be used and the models will be developed based on available modules.

The models will be thoroughly tested. A number of selected simulation scenarios will be validated in an experimental test system.

12

Asim Shehzad

Design of   Front-end for Fiber to the Home system (FTTH)

This project is to build the electronic front-end for a two channel 2.5 Gbit/s FTTH system using only one fiber. Furthermore the system should be tested using fiber spans or field experiments.

13

Asim Shehzad

Design of SNMP Network Simulator.

14

Asim Shehzad

Design and simulation of DSP based receiver for optical communication systems.

15

Asim Shehzad

Analysis and simulation of GSM Network through “Pathloss” software.

16

Asim Shehzad

Simulation of  Resource sharing in Ethernet  Passive optical networks Using OPNET modeler.

The main task in the project is to investigate (and propose) DBAs that shares resources fairly while maintaining low implementation complexity especially in the ONUs, since they are more numerous.

17

Samana Zehra.

Assistant Professor,

Network Administration Wizard

A software application that can make network administration tasks easier. The software will be required to do the following

Provide information to the administrator

About number of users online

About visited website names

Who is using how much bandwidth?

Who does maximum downloads (according to size) over the network?

Provide monitoring screen to LAN administrators that can remotely view the screen activity of the LAN users

18

Samana Zehra.

Assistant Professor,

Web-content Customization Tool

A web based application that allows its registered users to view customized information on their web pages.

19

Samana Zehra.

Assistant Professor,

Client-side Website development and Maintenance

A software application that will facilitate non technical individuals to build websites without requiring the user to know any web based markup language such as HTML. The user will provide his/her requirements of website by filling online forms with information,  selecting options, customizing the site layout, giving admin privileges to a group of people within the organization to edit, update, and upload the site content

20

Samana Zehra.

Assistant Professor,

Automated ER modeling Tool

This software tool will help the database designers to extract design information from a well structured requirements document and automatically generate E-R (entity relationship) model. The tool will develop a relational data model. It may not be able to generate a perfect design but can be used to evaluate the quality of the requirements based on the extraction of design information. This development work may involve text-mining.

Home Automation System for Disabled Humans: Gesture Recognition Approach

Home Automation System for Disabled Humans is a project of human computer interaction. Theapplication will be designed for human being that has severe motor disabilities or those who can’tmove frequently from one position to the other. In this project a human being can control thehome electricity system using hand gestures.

Driving Assistance System: Computer Vision based Drowsiness Detection

The objective of this project is to design a driving assistance system using computer vision techniques in real time. Driver Fatigue is a significant risk factor in both commercial and private transportation. Every year, hundreds of thousands of drivers, passengers and pedestrians are injured, maimed or killed in road accidents caused by driver drowsiness. Drowsy driver detection systems can help reduce accidents related to drowsy driving. As the eye closure occurrences dramatically increase during the 10-second period preceding an accident, monitoring such closures is a good way to determine drowsiness and prevent the accident. This 10 second range means that the system has to determine if the driver is drowsy in only a few seconds. The algorithm that will be used should not only be fast but effective with as less false alarms (alerting when the driver is awake) and false findings (mistaking other features in the image as eyes) as possible. The system will use a CCD camera with Infra Red illumination which is pointed to the driver's face. Using the image acquisition toolbox, images will be acquired and processed using our Matlab code. Hardware setup includes an IR camera and personal computer.

Vision based University Surveillance System

Surveillance systems have become the need of the hour. Most surveillance systems are based on computer vision techniques. University surveillance system will be used at the entrance of the university to maintain the record of both incoming and outgoing traffic in the university. Two cameras will be used for this purpose, one to monitor the incoming traffic and other for the outgoing traffic. Project is comprised of two parts, first of all system will automatically detect the vehicle and then using License Plate Recognition algorithm recognizes the registration number of the vehicle and stores in the database along with the time at which vehicle enters or exits. System will not only automate the system but also reduce labor cost of at least three persons.

Virtual Mouse

Gestures have long been used as a method of communication and are natural method of communication. It is reasonable to assume that an access method based on them should be both efficient and intuitive. Virtual mouse is a hand gesture recognition based project. Virtual mouse will be used to interact with the Windows or any other application as a pointing device instead of traditional mouse. System includes a camera that will capture the video of hand, hand pointing and hand gestures will enable users to access the computer.
