Student of University of Engineering and Technology,
Taxila won both 1st and 2nd positions in an exciting competition
among the undergraduate engineering student of all the universities
in the Asia Pacific region held by American Society of Mechanical
Engineers (ASME). Faculty advisor for these two teams was Engr.
Faheem Butt Lecturer, Civil Engg. Deptt. of UET Taxila.
In this contest teams were required to design
an emergency shelter in an area affected by a natural disaster
and immediately in the wake of the disaster. They have to be
made from whatever materials (rubble) are available at the disaster
site, and was meant to provide interim accommodation for four
weeks until more permanent dwellings could be provided by the
rescue teams.
